RIPTA TO DETOUR ALL ROUTES IN PROVIDENCE AND TEMPORARILY RELOCATE BUS STOPS TO ACCOMMODATE THE PROVIDENCE INTERNATIONAL ARTS SHOW ON SATURDAY, JUNE 13, 2015

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour all bus routes in the Providence area on Saturday, June 13, 2015 in order to accommodate the Providence International Arts Show.   Kennedy Plaza will be closed all day and night for this event. Routes 1, 3, 6, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 30, 31, 33, 34, 35, 50, 51, 52, 54, 55, 56, 57, 60, 66, 72, 78, 92 and the R-Line will be detoured all day and night.  All bus stops in Kennedy Plaza will be temporarily relocated during this time. The Peter Pan and Greyhound bus stop will be temporarily relocated to the front of the Convention Center near the corner of Snow Street.

The following routes will detour all day and night on Saturday, June 13, 2015:

Route 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit):

Southbound trips from Pawtucket will travel the regular route to the East Side Tunnel and North Main Street, right onto North Main Street, left onto Park Row, left onto Canal Street, right onto Steeple Street through to Exchange Terrace to temporary Bus Stop C. Trips will then continue on Exchange Terrace to Sabin Street, left onto Empire Street, left onto Weybosset Street, right onto Dorrance Street and then resume regular route.

Northbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Dorrance and Weybosset Streets, continue onto Lower Weybosset through to Exchange Street, to temporary Bus Stop H, then turn right onto Fulton Street, right onto Memorial Boulevard, left onto College Street, left onto South Main Street, right into the East Side Tunnel, and then resume regular route.

Route 3 (Warwick Ave.):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Eddy and Richmond Streets, continue on Eddy Street through to Memorial Boulevard, left onto Steeple Street through to Exchange Terrace to temporary Bus Stop D.

Outbound trips will travel on Exchange Terrace through to Sabin Street, left onto Empire Street, left onto Weybosset Street, right onto Dorrance Street and then resume regular route. 

Route 6 (Prairie Ave./RWP Zoo):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to East Franklin Street, right onto Broadway, right onto Lasalle Square, left onto Fountain Street, and then left onto Sabin Street to temporary Bus Stop B.

Outbound trips will travel regular route to Sabin Street through to Broadway, left onto West Franklin Street and then resume regular route. 

Route 14 (West Bay):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Exit 22, continue onto Memorial Boulevard, and then right onto Steeple Street through to Exchange Terrace to temporary Bus Stop Z.

Outbound trips will leave Exchange Terrace via Francis Street, right onto Francis Street, left onto I-95 South, and then resume regular route.

Route 17 (Dyer/Pocasset):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Washington and Empire Streets, left onto Empire Street, right onto Fountain Street to temporary Bus Stop E.

Outbound trips will leave Fountain Street via a left onto Sabin Street, left onto Empire Street, right onto Washington Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 18 (Union Ave.):

Please refer to the Route 17 (Dyer/Pocasset) detour.

Route 19 (Plainfield/Westminster):

Please refer to the Route 17 (Dyer/Pocasset) detour.

Route 20 (Elmwood Ave.):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Broad and Empire Streets, left onto Empire Street, right onto Fountain Street, and then left onto Sabin Street to temporary Bus Stop B.

Outbound trips will leave Sabin Street via a left onto Empire Street, right onto Broad Street, and then resume regular route. 

Route 21 (Reservoir Ave.):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the Downtown Exit, continue on Memorial Boulevard, and then turn right onto Steeple Street to temporary Bus Stop I.

Outbound trips will leave Exchange Terrace via a right onto Francis Street, left onto the Rte. 10 on-ramp, and then resume regular route.

Route 22 (Pontiac Ave.):

Please refer to the Route 20 (Elmwood Ave.) detour.

Route 27 (Broadway/Manton Ave.):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Fountain Street and then turn left onto Sabin Street. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off at temporary Bus Stop V.   

Outbound trips will leave Sabin Street and then resume regular route. 

Route 28 (Broadway/Hartford Ave):

Route 30 (Arlington/Oaklawn):

Inbound trips into downtown Providence will travel regular route to the Downtown Exit, continue on Memorial Boulevard, take a right onto Steeple Street through to Exchange Terrace to temporary Bus Stop A.

Outbound trips will leave Exchange Terrace via a right onto Francis Street, left onto the Route 10 on-ramp, and then resume regular route.

Route 31 (Cranston St.):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Dave Gavitt Way, right onto Broadway, left onto LaSalle Square, left onto Fountain Street, left onto Francis Street, right onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Exchange Terrace to temporary Bus Stop C.

Outbound trips will travel on Exchange Terrace through to Sabin Street to Broadway, left onto Service Road, right onto Westminster Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 33 (Riverside):

Inbound trips into downtown Providence will travel regular route on I-195 West to I-95 North, take a right off the Exit 22 off-ramp through to Memorial Boulevard, and then turn right onto Steeple Street through to Exchange Terrace to temporary Bus Stop G.

Outbound trips will leave Exchange Terrace via a right onto Francis Street, left onto I-95 South through to I-195 East, and then resume regular route.

Route 34 (East Providence):

Inbound trips into downtown Providence will travel regular route to the South Main Street Exit, left Point Street, right onto Eddy Street through to Memorial Boulevard, left onto Westminster Street, and then right onto Exchange Street to temporary Bus Stop H.

Outbound trips will leave Exchange Street via a right onto Fulton Street, right onto Memorial Boulevard, and then resume regular route.

Route 35 (Rumford/Newport Ave.):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the East Side Tunnel and North Main Street, right onto North Main Street, left onto Park Row, left onto Canal Street, right onto Steeple Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Westminster Street, and then right onto Exchange Street to temporary Bus Stop F.  

Outbound trips will leave Exchange Street via a right onto Fulton Street, right onto Memorial Boulevard, left onto College Street, left onto South Main Street, right at the East Side Tunnel, and then resume regular route.

Route 50 (Douglas Avenue):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Francis Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard, and then right onto Steeple Street through to Exchange Terrace.  Passengers will be picked up at temporary Bus Stop G.

Outbound trips will leave Exchange Terrace via a right onto Francis Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 51 (Charles Street):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Exchange Terrace to temporary Bus Stop J.

Outbound trips will leave Exchange Terrace via a right onto Francis Street, right onto Gaspee Street, right onto Smith Street, left onto North Main Street through to Charles Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 52 (Branch Ave.):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Exchange Terrace.  Passengers will be picked up and dropped off at temporary Bus Stop Z.

Outbound trips will leave Exchange Terrace via a right onto Francis Street, right onto Gaspee Street, right onto Smith Street, left onto North Main Street through to Charles Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 54 (Lincoln/Woonsocket):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Fountain Street.   Passengers will be picked up and dropped off at temporary Bus Stop Y.

Outbound trips will leave Fountain Street via a left onto Francis Street, turn left onto the I-95 North onramp, and then resume regular route.

Route 55 (Admiral Street/Providence College):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Francis and Sabin Streets, and then turn right onto Sabin Street to temporary Bus Stop W.  

Outbound trips will leave Sabin Street via a left onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, left onto Francis Street and then resume regular route.

Route 56 (Chalkstone Avenue):

Please refer to the Route 50 (Douglas Avenue) detour.

Route 57 (Smith Street):

Please refer to the Route 55 (Admiral Street/Providence College) detour.

Route 60 (Providence/Newport):

Inbound trips into downtown Providence will travel regular route on I-195 West to I-95 North, take a right at the Broadway Exit, right onto Broadway, right at LaSalle Square, and then left onto Fountain Street to temporary Bus Stop Y.  

Outbound trips will leave Fountain Street via a left onto Francis Street, left onto the I-195 S on-ramp through to I-195 East, and then resume regular route.

Route 66 (URI/Galilee):

Please refer to the Route 14 (West Bay) detour.

Route 72 (Weeden/Central Falls):

Please refer to the Route 51 (Charles Street) detour.

Route 78 (Beverage Hill):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the East Side Tunnel and North Main Street, right onto North Main Street, left onto Park Row, left onto Canal Street, right onto Steeple Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Westminster Street, and then right onto Exchange Street to temporary Bus Stop H.

Outbound trips will leave Exchange Street via a right onto Fulton Street, right onto

Memorial Boulevard, left onto College Street, left onto South Main Street, right into the

East Side Tunnel, and then resume regular route.

Route 92 (Federal Hill/East Side): 

WEST Inbound trips leaving from the East Side will travel the regular route to the

intersection of the East Side Tunnel and North Main Street, right onto North Main Street, left onto Park Row, left onto Canal Street, right onto Steeple Street through to Exchange Terrace to temporary Bus Stop D.

EAST Inbound trips leaving Rhode Island College will travel the regular route to Fountain Street, left onto Francis Street, right onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Steeple Street through to temporary Bus Stop I.  Trips will then continue onto Exchange Terrace, turn right onto Francis Street, right onto Memorial Boulevard, left onto College Street, left onto North Main Street, right at the East Side Tunnel and then resume regular route.             

R-Line (Broad/North Main):

NORTH Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Broad and Empire Streets, and then continue on Broad Street through to Weybosset Street to Lower Weybosset to Exchange Street.  Passengers will be picked off and dropped off at temporary Bus Stop F. Trips will then turn right onto Fulton Street, right onto Memorial Boulevard, left onto College Street, left onto South Main Street, and then resume regular route. 

SOUTH Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Canal Street, and then right onto Steeple Street to Exchange Terrace to temporary Bus Stop A.  Trips will then travel on Exchange Street through to Sabin Street, turn left onto Empire Street, right onto Washington Street, and then resume regular route.
